The game isn’t over. The first season of Netflix’s Alice in Borderland, adapted from the manga written and illustrated by Haro Aso, premiered in late 2020—and ended with a bit of a cliffhanger. It’s been a long wait, but answers (at least some of them, presumably) are just around the corner with the release of a “super teaser” for season two!
This trailer is so snappy it’s hard to get a good sense of what exactly is going on here, but we seem to get a glimpse of the players in the Borderland, where they must play games and collect cards if they want to escape. The summary says, “Arisu and Usagi must unravel the mysteries of the Borderland in order to return to their world. Shifting from the shocking setting of an empty Shibuya in the first season, this season is set in a devastated Shibuya covered in plants.”
(Cities covered in plants are the best.)
One thing seems clear: There are more games to beat. Yamazaki Kento and Tsuchiya Tao return as Arisu and Usagi; the returning cast also includes Nijiro Murakami, Ayaka Miyoshi, Dori Sakurada, Aya Asahina, Yutaro Watanabe, Tsuyoshi Abe, Sho Aoyagi and Riisa Naka.
Alice in Borderland‘s second season begins on Netflix this December.
